Reporting to the Scottish Board of Dairy UK, Director Kirk Hunter ensures the dairy industry’s voice is heard by Government and other key influencers in the Scottish scene. Dairy UK is able to represent its members’ views at the highest levels with Government, the Scottish Parliament, Scottish Enterprise and Food Standards Agency Scotland as well as a wide range of stakeholder organisations.

Current issues that Dairy UK Scotland is engaged with include:

CAP Reform – The implications of Scotland’s move from historic Single Farm Payments to area based direct payments.

Food Standards Scotland - The replacement of the Food Standards Agency with a new dedicated Scottish organisation with an extended remit into diet and health issues.

Ambition 2025 – A strategy to develop the Scottish dairy industry, particularly in export markets.

The National Strategy - To develop the food and drink sector including engagement with industry leadership body, Scotland Food and Drink.

Nutrition and Diet – Scottish Government/FSA’s health agenda.

Scottish Independence – Assessing the implications.
