On the Farm

Whole farm nutrient management considers the import of nutrients onto your farm, what happens to those nutrients whilst on the farm, and the export of milk, meat, crops or manure. The aim is to balance nutrients in with nutrients out, minimising losses to the environment.

On most dairy farms, feed is the largest import of nutrients, followed by fertiliser, whilst organic manure is a valuable yet often overlooked output; improving nutrient management can increase the profitability of your business,
